"Choke" starring Sam Rockwell (he can do no wrong) and Angelica Houston (same) has all the makings of a movie I love: a cast full of Indie movie favorites, quirky story line, tight writing, black humor with a twist of heart-wrenching emotion, a sort of surprise ending and a director who knows what he's doing.
Our sex-addicted, emotionally-depraved, con man hero, Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell) fakes choking at restaurants. But that is only a small part of this character rich film. He works as an Irish slave character in a historical park. He cares for his dying mother who's hospitalized. And that's just the beginning. This movie is hilarous, touching and intriguing all at once.
So pop some popcorn and settle in. Just don't choke!
